Internal Support

If you are in immediate danger or seriously injured, you can contact the emergency services on 999 (or 112 from a mobile phone).· If you are on Campus you can also contact Campus Security Services - by dialing 333 from any internal telephone, 01792513333 on a mobile or by using our SafeZone appStudent Life Officer (SLO)

You can speak confidentially to a Student Life Officer, who sit within the Welfare@CampusLife team. For this, you can make a named disclosure through the platform. A SLO will then get in touch to discuss your options with you and will be able to offer appropriate practical and emotional support tailored to your circumstances. SLO’s are also trained Sexual Violence Liaison Officers.

How can a Student Life Officer help?

You have access to our support regardless of whether the domestic abuse happened recently or not. With your consent, we can help you with:

  • Referrals to counselling and medical services
  • Academic and accommodation adjustments
  • Understanding the reporting options available to you, such as speaking to the police
  • Accessing specialist organisations, such as Sexual Assault Referral Clinics (SARCs)
  • Navigating systems and resources within the university and the community
  • Guidance on University procedures such as making a formal complaint via the Dignity at Work and Study Policy

People react and deal with domestic abuse in many ways. Any way you choose to proceed will be fully respected. We will support you on whatever path works best for you. We will handle your disclosure with confidentiality and will respect any decisions you make-we are here to listen and support you. Information will be kept confidential, unless it is deemed there is a safeguarding concern for yourself or others.
